Writing

I've never written steampunk before and thought I'd give it a try.  It was awful!  I rarely even mention mechanical things in my usual writing.  I researched steampunk literature before I started writing, and steam powered mechanical devices seemed to be fairly important to the genre.  Hopefully with some practice I'll be able to master it, or at least get better.  Now that I actually think about it, I've always written fantasy/sci-fi.  So branching out to other genres is probably a good idea.  Or at least mixing in a genre I haven't tried before.
