Poem to story

This is based on a poem my ex wrote when I turned her down. (two days later we started going out, it's complicated) So yeah, here:

A dark figure stands alone on the ice.  There used to be others to skate with, but they all left.  As she slowly begins to skate again she sees movement just beyond the ice.  She couldn't get off the ice though.  And they couldn't hear her if she called.  There were so many of them, there always had been.  She sighed and thought, 'Will anyone ever again join me on the ice?  Will anyone ever stay on the ice with me?' 'It's useless to think back.' She thought in reply.  "I know." She whispered, tears welling up in her eyes. "But all I want is to be happy.  And I was happy back then..." Her voice trailed off, and wasn't heard again.
